“The refs don’t matter if you win.”
As a sports fan, this is a saying I’ve heard for many years, and it seems true in every sport.
It means that if our team wins the game, it doesn’t matter about the calls the officials made.
After a win, we don’t care about the refs, or at least they’re not a big deal. I’m sure very few people lament how egregious calls impacted the game after their team wins. I know I don’t.
But if our team loses, the refs can become a big deal, sometimes for a good reason. Although, if we’re being honest, it’s usually just an excuse for our team, and if they had played better and done a better job in the different aspects of the game, they probably wouldn’t have lost.
Our politics seem no different, with the events surrounding the 2020 and 2024 elections a prime example.
In one of my previous articles, Cheater, Cheater, Pumpkin Eater, I talked about the election denial noise surrounding the 2020 election, but in this article, in a bit of a sequel, we’re going to talk about the lack of noise surrounding the 2024 election.
How this time, after a win, the Republicans seem to be radio silent despite pre-election concerns about fraud, and why this silence is a significant concern more Americans should be talking about, regardless of whether they think fraud exists or not.
